Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Half-flat structures on products of three-dimensional Lie groups

open access: yes, 2009
We classify six-dimensional Lie groups which admit a left-invariant half-flat SU(3)-structure and which split in a direct product of three-dimensional factors.

Three-Dimensional Electronic Structure of type-II Weyl Semimetal WTe$_2$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
By combining bulk sensitive soft-X-ray angular-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and accurate first-principles calculations we explored the bulk electronic properties of WTe$_2$, a candidate type-II Weyl semimetal featuring a large non-saturating ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Universal structure of two and three dimensional self-gravitating systems in the quasi-equilibrium state

open access: yes, 2015
We study a universal structure of two and three dimensional self-gravitating systems in the quasi-equilibrium state. It is shown numerically that the two dimensional self-gravitating system in the quasi-equilibrium state has the same kind of density ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Three-Dimensional Structure Of Magnetic Reconnection In A Laboratory Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The local three-dimensional structure of magnetic reconnection has been measured for the first time in a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) laboratory plasma at the Swarthmore Spheromak Experiment. An array of 600 magnetic probes which resolve ion inertial length

Bell inequalities for three particles

open access: yes, 2008
We present tight Bell inequalities expressed by probabilities for three four- and five-dimensional systems. The tight structure of Bell inequalities for three $d$-dimensional systems (qudits) is proposed.

Anisotropy of the Lundgren–Townsend model of fine-scale turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The effect of a statistically anisotropic distribution of stretched vortices in the Lundgren-Townsend model of the fine-scale structure of homogeneous turbulence is considered.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
