A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

Ultrahigh‐Yield, Multifunctional, and High‐Performance Organic Memory for Seamless In‐Sensor Computing Operation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular engineering of a nonconjugated radical polymer enables a significant enhancement of the glass transition temperature. The amorphous nature and tunability of the polymer, arising from its nonconjugated backbone, facilitates the fabrication of organic memristive devices with an exceptionally high yield (>95%), as well as substantial ...

Investigation of Force Decay in Aesthetic, Fibre-Reinforced Composite Orthodontic Archwires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background/Objectives: Because polymer-based materials typically exhibit viscoelastic properties, the objective was to determine if commercially available, aesthetic, fibre-reinforced composite archwires maintain continuous forces without undergoing ...

Programmable DNA‐Peptide Hybrid Nanostructures for Potent Neutralization of Multiple Influenza a Virus Subtypes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent antiviral platform based on honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructures (HC–Urumin) is developed to enhance the potency and breadth of the host defense peptide Urumin. Through spatially patterned trimeric presentation, HC–Urumin disrupts influenza A virus entry, improves cell viability, and reduces disease severity in vivo‐offering a modular and ...

Tailoring Microstructure in Copper‐Based Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Chemiresistive Sensing and Uptake of Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor‐ and solvent‐mediated synthesis yields four Cu3(HHTP)2 morphologies with distinct physicochemical, sorption, and sensing properties toward SO2. Uptake capacities correlate with BET surface area, while sensing performance scales with particle aspect ratio.

Revisiting the Side Crushing Test Using the Three-Point Bending Test for the Strength Measurement of Catalyst Supports

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2015
The side crushing test is commonly used to characterize the mechanical strength of catalyst supports. However its interpretation is complex for cylindrical supports due to their irregular geometry and the various fracture modes induced. A better analysis

Dynamic Compression Plating with Strategic Screw Fixation in Diaphyseal Transverse Fractures of the Radius: the Biomechanical Effect of Numbers of Screws [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Introduction.Diaphyseal fracture of radius could compromise function unless adequately treated. Open reduction and internal fixation with six cortices of screw fixation on either side of the fracture is generally accepted as the best method of ...

Reconfigurable Magnetic Soft Microrobot for Acoustically Triggered Targeted Bacterial Sterilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable magnetic soft microrobots integrate in situ‐grown piezoelectric zinc oxide nanorods that produce reactive oxygen species upon acoustic excitation. Combining magnetically guided transport with thermally induced planar reconfiguration, the microrobots achieve targeted delivery and enhanced bacterial sterilization through efficient on ...
