Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Effects of genetic selection and threonine on meat quality in Pekin ducks
The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of genetic selection and threonine levels on meat quality in Pekin ducks. At 15 D of age, 192 lean ducks and 192 fatty ducks were selected and allotted to one of three treatments with 8 ...

Criegee, Kraft and Rank1 showed that glycols and related compounds are split by lead tetraacetate to yield ketones or aldehydes. Threonine (CH3CHOHCHNH2COOH) should, therefore, yield acetaldehyde when oxidized by lead tetraacetate. Eegriwe2 described a highly sensitive color reaction for the qualitative estimation of lactic acid based upon the ...

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

Effects of Dietary Levels of Glycine, Threonine and Protein on Threonine Efficiency and Threonine Dehydrogenase Activity in Hepatic Mitochondria of Chicks [PDF]
This study was carried out to evaluate the relationship between threonine (Thr) efficiency and Thr dehydrogenase (TDG) activity as an indicator of Thr oxidation on chicks fed with levels of diets (CP [17.5% and 21.5%] and Thr [3.8 and 4.7 g/100 g CP]; glycine [Gly][0.64% and 0.98%] and true digestible Thr [dThr] [0.45% and 0.60%]).

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Genomic and experimental evidence for multiple metabolic functions in the RidA/YjgF/YER057c/UK114 (Rid) protein family. [PDF]
BackgroundIt is now recognized that enzymatic or chemical side-reactions can convert normal metabolites to useless or toxic ones and that a suite of enzymes exists to mitigate such metabolite damage.

Self-activation of Serine/Threonine Kinase AfsK on Autophosphorylation at Threonine-168 [PDF]
A Hanks-type protein kinase AfsK autophosphorylates on threonine residue(s) and phosphorylates AfsR, a global regulator for secondary metabolism in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2). Mass spectrometry of a tryptic digest of the autophosphorylated form of AfsK deltaC corresponding to the kinase catalytic domain (Met-1 to Arg-311) of AfsK, together with ...
