Balancing with Thresholds

open access: yes, 2017
The paper presents a general formal framework representing the role of balancing of values in interpretation of statutory rules. The model developed here is an extension of the model of teleological interpretation, where a given interpretive outcome is justified if it satisfies a given goal (or a set of goals).

Presidential Threshold Between the Threshold of Candidacy and Threshold of Electability [PDF]

open access: yesJURNAL CITA HUKUM, 2018
Abstract. In judicial review on Article 9 of Law Number 42 of 2008 on The Election of President and Vice-President which regulates Presidential threshold, the Constitutional Court refused on the grounds that it is an open legal policy which mandated by Article 6 paragraph (5) of the 1945 Constitution that the administration of the election of President

At the Threshold of Architecture [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Art & Design Education, 2001
In structuring the programme of our interior design studio, we questioned two assumptions that are central to the discourse of modern architecture: the site being empty of its unique traits, images, stories; and the user being devoid of human subjectivities, perception, imagination, memory.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Bayesian nonlinearity test for threshold moving average models

open access: yes, 2010
We propose a Bayesian test for nonlinearity of threshold moving average (TMA) models. First, we obtain the marginal posterior densities of all parameters, including the threshold and delay, of the TMA model using Gibbs sampler with the Metropolis ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Threshold effects in multivariate error correction models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper we propose a testing procedure for assessing the presence of threshold effects in nonstationary Vector autoregressive models with or without cointegration.

Evaluation of the Perceptual Interactions among Aldehydes in a Cheddar Cheese Matrix According to Odor Threshold and Aroma Intensity

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
To evaluate the contributions of 3-methylbutanal, 2-methylbutanal, 2-methylpropanal, and benzaldehyde in cheddar cheese models, the threshold values, optimal concentration ranges, and perceptual actions of these compounds were determined at various ...
