LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Quantum nonlocality of Heisenberg XX model with Site-dependent Coupling Strength

open access: yes, 2003
We show that the generalized Bell inequality is violated in the extended Heisenberg model when the temperature is below a threshold value. The threshold temperature values are obtained by constructing exact solutions of the model using the temperature ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Genetic parameters for pathogen-specific mastitis resistance in Danish Holstein Cattle

open access: yesAnimal, 2009
The objective of this study was to estimate heritabilities for and genetic correlations among different pathogen-specific mastitis traits. The traits were unspecific mastitis, which is all mastitis treatments regardless of the causative pathogen as well ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Role of Air Pollution in Shaping Urban Cultural Consumption: An Empirical Investigation of PM10 and Movie Consumption in Chinese Cities

open access: yesEconomies
This study investigates the nonlinear effects of air pollution on urban entertainment consumption by analyzing daily PM10 levels and movie box office data across 334 Chinese cities from 2012 to 2022, resulting in a total of 1,250,339 observations ...

Threshold Effects in Cigarette Addiction: An Application of the Threshold Model in Dynamic Panels [PDF]

open access: yes
We adopt the threshold model of myopic cigarette addiction to US state-level panel data. The threshold model is used to identify the structural effects of cigarette demand determinants across the income stratification.

Continuous Wavelet Transform and Hidden Markov Model Based Target Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Standard tracking filters perform target detection process by comparing the sensor output signal with a predefined threshold. However, selecting the detection threshold is of great importance and a wrongly selected threshold causes two major problems ...
