Red Blood Cells Detecting Depending on Binary Conversion at Multi Threshold Values

open access: yesAl-Mustansiriyah Journal of Science, 2022
Automatic detection of Red Blood Cells (RBCs) by using image-processing techniques is important in determining blood disorders and diseases. This study proposes an algorithm for automatic detection of red blood cells in optical microscopy images of blood

A non-parametric framework for estimating threshold limit values

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2005
Background To estimate a threshold limit value for a compound known to have harmful health effects, an 'elbow' threshold model is usually applied. We are interested on non-parametric flexible alternatives.

GPU accelerated singular value thresholding

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2023
Matrix completion (MC) is widely used in machine learning and signal processing to fill in the missing data of an incomplete observation matrix. Singular value thresholding (SVT) is one of the most popular algorithms among numerous MC methods. A Python-based GPU-accelerated SVT software is presented in this paper. It is a user-friendly software package

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Techniques for Calculating Software Product Metrics Threshold Values: A Systematic Mapping Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Several aspects of software product quality can be assessed and measured using product metrics. Without software metric threshold values, it is difficult to evaluate different aspects of quality.

Threshold Values for Processing Distributed Queries [PDF]

open access: yesThe Computer Journal, 1991
A strategy to process a distributed query is formed using estimates of intermediate result sizes and delays due to network data transfer and CPU processing. Strategy execution is monitored, and corrected if observed parameter values differ substantially from their estimates.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
