Effects of Thromboxane Synthase Inhibition on Placental Prostacyclin and Thromboxane Production

Clinical and Experimental Hypertension. Part B: Hypertension in Pregnancy, 1990
Selective inhibition of thromboxane synthesis without affecting prostacyclin synthesis is being considered as a potential treatment for preeclampsia because of its imbalance of increased thromboxane/decreased prostacyclin production. Thromboxane production by the placenta is greatly increased in preeclampsia so effective therapy must inhibit placental,

Effects of thromboxane synthase inhibitors on renal function

Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 1988
In general the effects of thromboxane A2(TXA2) on renal function are opposite those produced by other prostanoids. TXA2 synthase inhibitors decrease the biosynthesis of TXA2 and may increase the production of other prostanoids by causing endoperoxide shunting.

Inactivation of thromboxane synthase with hydroperoxy-fatty acids

Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Essential Fatty Acids, 1991
Bovine lung thromboxane synthase was immobilized on phenyl-Sepharose beads by adsorption. The immobilized enzyme was catalytically active and synthesized both TXA2 and HHT. The structure-activity relationship of several hydroperoxy fatty acids and their ability to inactivate thromboxane synthase was investigated.

The Occurence of Thromboxane Synthase in Tumor Cells

1991
Different studies have shown, that human tumors are able to synthesize prostanoids (1–3) with significant increases in production during tumor development (4,5). An influence of cyclooxygenase metabolites of arachidonic acid on processes such as cell proliferation, migration, adherence, and hemostatic mechanisms were suggested.

Antiplatelet effect of a new inhibitor of thromboxane synthase and thromboxane A2 receptors.

Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1997
The effect on platelets of a new molecule denominated MED 27 (1-methyl-5-(4-methylbenzoyl)pyrrole-2-acetic acid 2-(theophylline-7-yl)ethyl ester, CAS 104333-87-1) was investigated. In vitro in the rat and using scalar doses of adenosine 5-diphosphate as challenge, the substance was found to be a platelet antiaggregating agent; in human platelets this ...

The Biochemistry And Physiology of Prostacyclin- and Thromboxane-Synthase

1999
The prostaglandins form a family of signalling molecules that communicate between cells of a given organ (autacoids). They mediate key events in inflammation, autoimmune diseases, or shock syndromes but are also involved in physiological regulations associated with growth, differentiation, parturition or sleep (for reviews see1-7).
