Throughfall equations at OAL-UK [PDF]
Dataset containing fitting equations from linear regression models for predicting throughfall from gross rainfall for multiple woody and non-woody plant species -i.e. sycamore, ash, goat willow, basket willow and herbs. The equations were fitted per tree

The role of pollen in forest throughfall biochemistry [PDF]
Pollen from wind-pollinated forest trees, beside by dry gravitational settling, is washed out from the atmosphere by precipitation, but little is known about the effects of this pollen on throughfall biochemistry. We analysed long-term data from five UNECE ICP Forests intensive monitoring (Level II) plots in Flanders, Belgium, and nearby pollen ...

Comparative analysis of throughfall observations in six different forest stands [PDF]
Throughfall, that is, the fraction of rainfall that passes through the forest canopy, is strongly influenced by rainfall and forest stand characteristics which are in turn both subject to seasonal dynamics.

Does heterogeneity in regenerating secondary forests affect mean throughfall? [PDF]
As secondary tropical forests grow, their canopy structure and density change. This affects the canopy storage and aerodynamic roughness, and thus the amount of water that is lost to interception.

Canopy influence on trace metal atmospheric inputs on forest ecosystems: Speciation in throughfall [PDF]
Trace Metal (TM: Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Sb and Zn) atmospheric inputs have been studied on six forested sites. In order to evaluate canopy interaction with atmospheric inputs, TM have been measured in both Open Field Precipitation (OFP) and Throughfall (TF ...

Technical note: An innovative monitoring approach to measure spatio-temporal throughfall patterns in forests [PDF]
Throughfall in forests is spatially highly heterogeneous creating distinct patterns that persist over time and propagate into the soil. Despite its importance for forest ecohydrological processes, experimentally derived high-quality datasets describing ...

Abstract For a period, 1958–60, a record was kept of 24 wedge-shaped gages randomly placed under a secondary hardwood forest canopy to determine the amount and variation in throughfall and drip from the rain. An average of the 24 gages under the canopy for each rain was then compared with the catch in a standard 8-inch rain gage maintained in the open.

The effects of throughfall exclusion on xylogenesis of balsam fir [PDF]
A 20-40% reduction in soil moisture is projected for the boreal forest of Eastern Canada for the period 2070-99 relative to 1971-2000. In order to better predict the effects of a reduced water supply on the growth of balsam fir (Abies balsamea (L.) Mill.), a dominant tree species of the boreal forest, we simulated 2 consecutive years of summer droughts
