Parametric study on thrust force of core drill

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2007
Abstract Drilling-induced delamination is among the major concerns of applying the fiber-reinforced composite materials in various industries. Core drill possesses the advantage for reducing the delamination by distributing the drilling thrust force toward the drill periphery.

Identification of thrust force models for vibratory drilling

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2009
Abstract Among the scientific problems in drilling, determining thrust forces for any drill geometry and any workmaterial remains an issue. This question is especially critical in the context of the self-vibratory drilling (SVD) technology, since thrust force governs the trajectory of cutting lips.

Critical thrust force and critical feed rate in drilling flax fibre composites: A comparative study of various thrust force models

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019
Abstract Past experimental and analytical studies for determination of critical thrust force that contributed toward minimal delamination damage in drilling synthetic fibre reinforced composites have failed to consider the recently developed natural fibre composites.

A High Thrust Force Spoke-Type Linear Permanent Magnet Vernier Machine with Reduced Thrust Force Ripple [PDF]

open access: yes2023 International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and Technologies (SEST), 2023
Linear permanent magnet vernier machines (LP-MVMs) have become prevalent in direct-drive applications, such as wave energy harvesting systems and traction applications, owing to their distinctive merit of providing high thrust force at low speeds.

Prediction of thrust force in indexable drilling of aluminum alloys with machine learning algorithms

open access: yesMeasurement: Journal of the International Measurement Confederation, 2023
The thrust force has a direct effect on important output responses such as surface roughness, power consumption, and tool wear. The measurement process for thrust forces is very time-consuming and costly.

The Traceable Calibration of Thrust Stand by Electrostatic Force

Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2022
Micro thrusters have important applications in low-frequency gravitational wave detection, satellite formation, and inter-satellite laser communication, so it is necessary to accurately measure the thrust of micro thrusters with traceability. A thrust stand is a widely used micro thrust measuring device with the advantages of high resolution and large ...

Thrust Forces in Underwater Swimming

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1965
Instantaneous and mean static thrust levels were measured for eight underwater swimmers restrained in a submerged force platform. Swimming was examined barefoot and with two types of fins. The main beneficial effect of the fins was to eliminate the substantial negative thrust component associated with barefoot swimming.

Measuring Leg Thrust Forces in the Common Starling

Journal of Experimental Biology, 1996
ABSTRACT We describe the design of a force-transducing perch which measures the reaction forces of small birds taking off and landing. In common starlings, landing forces are lower than take-off forces, because the bird may decelerate prior to landing by using its wings.
