This paper introduces a novel linear vernier permanent magnet machine (H-LVPMM) with high force density and low force ripple. The permanent magnets (PMs) on secondary uses Halbach array, which can provide a larger flux density in the air gap than that of the conventional surface-mounted PMs configurations, and the primary is composed of three modules ...

Cranial tibial thrust: A primary force in the Canine stifle
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1983SUMMARY A cranially directed force identified within the canine stifle joint was termed cranial tibial thrust. It was generated during weight bearing by tibial compression, of which the tarsal tendon of the biceps femoris is a major contributor, and by the slope of the tibial plateau, found to have a mean cranially directed inclination of 22.6 degrees.

Balanced-force-control of underactuated thrust-propelled vehicles
2007 46th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007The paper sets the basics of a control framework for underactuated thrust-propelled vehicles immersed in a fluid, with the objective of stabilizing reference trajectories either in velocity or in position.

Dynamic Modeling of the Thrust Force and Torque for Drilling
1992 American Control Conference, 1992Discrete time dynamic models relating the drilling process outputs of thrust force and torque to feed input are presented in this paper. Drilling to depths of greater than a few drill diameters with conventional twist drills, the torque and thrust force tend to increase due to difficulties with chip evacuation.

Intelligent Modeling of Thrust Force in Drilling Process
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2006In this paper, an intelligent modeling strategy for thrust force in drilling process is proposed. First of all, neural network (NN) models are developed to model the thrust force in drilling process. Second, drill head position information is included in the NN model to get better force prediction accuracy for entrance and exit drilling stages.

Evaluation of Subcooled Water Thrust Forces
Nuclear Technology, 1976Subcooled water thrust forces for use in pipe rupture analyses have been normalized with respect to an enthalpy normalization factor. This normalization is based on comparisons with thrust forces calculated using the Henry-Fauske model, and the answers are within +-3 percent in the range 300 to 2400 psia (21.1 to 168.7 kg/cm/sup 2/).

THRUST FORCE OF TFLM AS A DIRECTION OF FRICTIONAL RESISTANCE
International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2006This paper presents an integrated linear actuator combined with a Traverse Flux Linear Motor (TFLM) for household electric applications. They both use the same primary magnetic circuit, but they have different secondary movers. The paper presents a new design of linear motor for a new electromagnetic linear actuator, an integrated TFLM. The calculated

Thrust force analysis of spindle motor for HDDs
International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2006. SPEEDAM 2006., 2006This paper presents spindle motor with fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) for hard disk drives. Thrust bearing of FDB requires appropriate pressure to operate in smooth rotations. In this study, the thrust force between rotor and thrust yoke is analyzed using 3D finite element method and experimental results are compared with the simulated ...

The Thrust Force Structure in Drilling
2009The purpose of this work is to present investigation of the thrust force generated during drilling process. The thrust force acting on drill is the sum of three components: the cutting component, the thrust force attributed to ploughing at the chisel edge and the thrust force resulting from friction at the margin.

Optimum thrust trajectories in general central force fields
Astrodynamics Conferece, 1978The well known "primer theory" of Lawden is used for the analysis of optimal coplanar orbital transfers in general central force fields. Two first-integrals, which hold for singular thrusting arcs as well as impulsive thrusts, are shown to become linearly dependent if a circular coasting arc forms part of an optimal trajectory.
