Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Thulium fiber lasers with longitudinally modified concentration

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
High-power fiber lasers generate local heat load extremes during their operation, which increase the fiber temperature and lead to adverse thermal effects, such as transverse mode instability or cladding/coating thermal damage.

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Tuning Amorphous‐Crystalline Catalytic Interfaces by Mechanochemistry: Cu‐Based Metallic Glasses Coupled with Ceria for CO Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ball‐milling Cu‐based metallic glasses with ceria creates a unique nanostructure where metallic glass particles are wrapped by CeO2 nanoparticles. The intimate integration triggers copper state reorganization during reaction and aging, boosting CO oxidation and COPrOx activity.

Thulium Alkylidene Complexes:  Synthesis, X-ray Structures, and Reactivity

open access: yes, 2016
The first thulium alkylidene complexes (2 and 5) were synthesized using a stable dianionic ligand as carbene precursor and were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. These complexes were shown to involve metal−carbon double-bond character by their

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
