Assembly of the precursor and processed light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b protein of Lemna into the light-harvesting complex II of barley etiochloroplasts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
When the in vitro synthesized precursor of a light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b binding protein (LHCP) from Lemna gibba is imported into barley etiochloroplasts, it is processed to a single form.

Conservation of core complex subunits shaped the structure and function of photosystem I in the secondary endosymbiont alga Nannochloropsis gaditana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Photosystem I (PSI) is a pigment protein complex catalyzing the light-driven electron transport from plastocyanin to ferredoxin in oxygenic photosynthetic organisms.

Chloroplast Stress Signals Orchestrate Epidermis‐Specific Remodeling of Mitochondria and ER Under High Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High light exposure triggers an epidermis‐specific remodeling of mitochondria and ER in Arabidopsis, driven by chloroplast‐derived signals. Live‐cell imaging shows that HL rapidly suppresses mitochondrial motility, followed by fusion‐driven elongation and ER cisternal expansion.

Ultrastructure changes of seedlings of Kosteletzkya virginica under waterlogging conditions

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2011
The changes in ultrastructure of leaf cell in waterlogged Kosteletzkya virginica seedlings were observed by transmission electron microscope. During waterlogging, the chloroplasts turned into a round shape and their volume was gradually reduced ...

A Commonly Used Photosynthetic Inhibitor Fails to Block Electron Flow to Photosystem I in Intact Systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
In plant science, 2,4-dinitrophenylether of iodonitrothymol (DNP-INT) is frequently used as an alternative to 2,5-dibromo-6-isopropyl-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone (DBMIB) to examine the capacity of plastoquinol and semiquinone to reduce O2.

From Natural Discovery to AI‐Guided Design: A Curated Collection of Compact Enhancers for Crop Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Precise transgene‐free gene upregulation remains a challenge in crop biotechnology, as conventional enhancers often exceed CRISPR‐mediated knock‐in size constraints and face regulatory hurdles. Here we establish a foundational cross‐species resource of compact transcriptional enhancers developed via STEM‐seq, a high‐throughput screening ...

Adaptive and Biochemical Responses of Dictyosphaerium sp. AM‐2024a to Environmental Conditions and Microplastic Interactions: Synergy of Biofuel Production With Pollution Mitigation

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the physiological and biochemical responses of a newly isolated microalgal strain, Dictyosphaerium sp. AM‐2024a, identified through 18S rDNA sequencing, under varying environmental conditions and microplastic (MP) interactions.

One-step isolation and biochemical characterization of a highlyactive plant PSII monomeric core [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We describe a one-step detergent solubilization protocol for isolating a highly active form of Photosystem II (PSII) from Pisum sativum L. Detailed characterization of the preparation showed that the complex was a monomer having no light harvesting ...
