Thyroglobulin-anti-thyroglobulin immune complex glomerulonephritis complicating radioiodine therapy

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1978
Abstract A case of glomerulonephritis, apparently secondary to documented deposition of thyroglobulin-anti-thyroglobulin immune complexes, is reported. A 26-year-old man developed acute glomerulonephritis 10 days after administration of 131I for treatment of thyrotoxicosis.

Thyroglobulin and anti-thyroglobulin assays in thyroid cancer monitoring

Clinical Biochemistry, 2009
To compare four methods for thyroglobulin (Tg) quantitation and three methods for detection and quantitation of thyroglobulin antibodies (Tg-Ab). We also wanted to explore the premise that thyroglobulin antibodies, as determined by commercially available assays, interfere with thyroglobulin assays in a predictable way.Split sample method comparisons ...

Phosphorylation of 19S Thyroglobulin

1988
Thyroglobulin (TG), one of the largest known eukaryotic proteins (Mr 660.000, sedimentation coefficient 19S), plays a central role in thyroid hormonogenesis. TG presents several characteristics of special interest: (i) it represents the major biosynthetic product of thyroid follicular cell1; (ii) under denaturing conditions it can be dissociated into ...

Thyroglobulin: A Clinical Review

Endocrine Practice, 1995
The introduction of the new assays for thyroglobulin (Tg) with a sensitivity of 1 to 3 mg/L has made it unnecessary to terminate thyroxine suppression therapy to determine Tg level. Thyroid-stimulating hormone should always be assessed in conjunction with the Tg to ensure that it is not high; as long as it is suppressed to normal, subnormal suppression
