Abstract Background Allan‐Herndon‐Dudley syndrome (AHDS)/monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8) deficiency is a rare X‐linked encephalopathy caused by SLC16A2 variants, impairing thyroid hormone (TH) transport into the brain.
