Impaired Sensitivity to Thyroid Hormones Is Associated With Elevated Blood Glucose in Coronary Heart Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
ContextThyroid hormones influence glucose homeostasis through central and peripheral regulation. To date, the association between thyroid hormone sensitivity and elevated blood glucose (EBG) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) remains unknown ...

Functional Sensitivity and Recovery of Thyroid-stimulating Hormone [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2001
Comparisons of the Vitros ECi thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) method with the AxSym (1), Immulite (1)(2), Elecsys (2), and ADVIA Centaur (2) have shown an unexplained progressive negative bias

Involvement of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis and its interaction with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in the ontogeny of avian thermoregulation: a review

open access: yes, 2008
The emergence of thermoregulation in avian species is a complex matter in which neural as well as hormonal processes are involved. In a previous paper, the neural aspects of primary avian thermoregulation were discussed.

Thyroid Hormone Resistance Syndromes

open access: yes, 2019
Syndromes with impaired sensitivity to thyroid hormone (TH) include three types of resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) syndromes (RTHβ, RTHα, and nonTR-RTH) and also include patients with defects in TH transport into cells (thyroid hormone cell membrane ...

The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Effects of thyroid-stimulating hormone and sensitivity to thyroid hormones on the risk of hyperuricemia in euthyroid adults

open access: yesArchives of Endocrinology and Metabolism
The current study was conducted to investigate whether thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroid hormone sensitivity are associated with hyperuricemia probability in euthyroid population. The observational analysis was based on a Chinese community-based cohort (n = 1,972).

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
