Cleavage of the human thyrotropin receptor by ADAM10 is regulated by thyrotropin

Journal of Molecular Recognition, 2007
AbstractThe thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) has a unique 50 residue (317–366) ectodomain insertion that sets it apart from other glycoprotein hormone receptors (GPHRs). Other ancient members of the leucine‐rich repeat G protein‐coupled receptor (GPCR) (LGR) family do exhibit ectodomain insertions of variable lengths and sequences.

Comparison of Recombinant Human Thyrotropin Receptors Versus Porcine Thyrotropin Receptors in the Thyrotropin Binding Inhibition Assay for Thyrotropin Receptor Autoantibodies

Thyroid, 1999
Thyrotropin receptor autoantibodies (TRAb) are most commonly measured in a thyrotropin-binding inhibition (TBI) assay using solubilized porcine thyrotropin receptors (pTSHR). Recently, we reported modifications in recombinant human thyrotropin receptor (hTSHR) production and extraction that made substitution of this antigen for the pTSHR practical.

Effect of Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone on Human Pituitary Thyrotropin, Prolactin, Placental Lactogen, and Chorionic Thyrotropin

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1973
The effect of synthetic thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) on serum thyrotropin (hTSH), prolactin (hPRL), chorionic thyrotropin (hCT), and placental lactogen (hPL) was investigated in 13 normal pregnant women who had therapeutic abortions at 8–22 weeks of gestation. Five hundred μg TRH injected iv increased serum hTSH consistently in all subjects. The

Hypothalamic Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone and Thyrotropin Biological Activity

Thyroid, 1998
Hypothalamic thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) is the main positive regulator of thyrotropin (TSH) secretion. TRH action and the negative feedback of thyroid hormone are integrated in order to guarantee appropriate thyroid stimulation. TRH action affects various steps of the biosynthetic process within thyrotrophs, with major effects on the ...

The thyrotropin stimulation test

The American Journal of Medicine, 1966
Abstract The current literature relating to the thyrotropin stimulation test is reviewed. There is adequate evidence to support the use of a onedose test to differentiate pituitary disease from primary thyroid disease. A test procedure is suggested and general problems in interpretation are discussed.

The thyrotropin response to thyrotropin-releasing hormone in endogenous depression

Psychoneuroendocrinology, 1981
Abstract The maximal response of thyrotropin (TSH) to thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) (Δ max TSH) is reduced in endogenous depression (ED). In the majority of studies Δ max TSH was reduced to the same degree in unipolar and bipolar depression, as well as in manic patients.

Thyrotropin Response to Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone in Normal Subjects

European Journal of Clinical Investigation, 1974
Abstract. 200 (ig of synthetic thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) was administered intravenously to six normal men and six normal women on two occasions. A positive correlation between the basal TSH level and maximal serum TSH after TRH was found. The TSH responses in the mid‐follicular and mid‐luteal phase were similar.

Thyrotropin in teleost fish

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2009
Thyrotropin (TSH), a pituitary glycoprotein hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland, has been cloned and sequenced from over a dozen teleost fish species. Although TSH is established as a primary driver of systemic thyroid status in mammals, its importance in the regulation of fish thyroid function is still uncertain.
