Cell Response on Laser-Patterned Ti/Zr/Ti and Ti/Cu/Ti Multilayer Systems
Abstract: Arranged patterns obtained by ultrafast laser processing on the surface of Ti/Cu/Ti/Si and Ti/Zr/Ti/Si thin film systems are reported. Two differently designed multilayer thin films, Ti/Cu/Ti/Si and Ti/Zr/Ti/Si, were deposited on silicon by the ion sputtering method.

We construct certain monoids, called tied monoids. These monoids result to be semidirect products finitely presented and commonly built from braid groups and their relatives acting on monoids of set partitions. The nature of our monoids indicate that they should give origin to new knot algebras; indeed, our tied monoids include the tied braid monoid ...

Microstructure and Properties of TiC/Ti Coatings Deposited by the Supersonic Cold Gas Spray Technique [PDF]
Nanostructured, biocompatible, TiC/Ti Supersonic Cold Gas Sprayed coatings were deposited onto a Ti6Al4V alloy and their microstructure, wear resistance and hardness were investigated. The starting nanostructured powder, containing a varied mixture of Ti

“Negative Ties, Lost Ties, Latent Ties”
This special issue intends to bring a unique perspective on some unexplored aspects of social networks, namely the negative ties, lost ties or latent ties. The texts presented here were prepared following after a conference organized specifically on this topic. Field analyzes reflect the presence of social networks that are “inefficient”, “conflictual”

Tight-binding study of high-pressure phase transitions in titanium: alpha to omega and beyond [PDF]
We use a tight-binding total energy method, with parameters determined from a fit to first-principles calculations, to examine the newly discovered gamma phase of titanium.

Effect of Ti and TiC coating on the thermal stability of diamond
The metallization of diamond surface is one of the important methods to improve the properties of diamond products. The quality of the coating has an important influence on the thermal stability of diamond and its products.

Topological Insulators by Topology Optimization [PDF]
An acoustic topological insulator (TI) is synthesized using topology optimization, a free material inverse design method. The TI appears spontaneously from the optimization process without imposing requirements on the existence of pseudo spin-1/2 states ...
