The Combined Effects of an External Field and Novel Functional Groups on the Structural and Electronic Properties of TMDs/Ti3C2 Heterostructures: A First-Principles Study

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The stacking of Ti3C2 with transition metal dihalide (TMDs) materials is an effective strategy to improve the physical properties of a single material, and the tuning of the related properties of these TMDs/Ti3C2 heterostructures is also an important ...

The Characteristics and Generating Mechanism of Large Precipitates in Ti-Containing H13 Tool Steel

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2017
The characteristics of large precipitates in H13 tool steel with 0.015wt% Ti were studied. The result shows that three types of phases larger than 1 μm exist in the as-cast ingot, that is, (Ti, V) (C, N) type phase, (V, Mo, Cr)C type phase and sulfide ...

Phase Equilibria of the Co-Ti-Ta Ternary System

open access: yesMetals, 2018
The phase equilibria of the Co-Ti-Ta ternary system at 1000 °C, 1100 °C, and 1200 °C were experimentally investigated using an electron probe microanalyzer and X-ray diffraction.

Three-Body Abrasive Wear Performance of High Chromium White Cast Iron with Different Ti and C Content

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
The need for better wear-resistant materials to reduce cost and save the environment is noteworthy. The striking wear resistance of high chromium white cast iron (HCCI) has made it industry’s predominant choice.

Shape-Controlled TiCx Particles Fabricated by Combustion Synthesis in the Cu-Ti-C System

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
TiCx particle-reinforced Cu-matrix composites were prepared in the Cu-Ti-C system by thermal explosion and hot press. Extracted TiCx particles with various shapes of in situ TiCx particles in the Cu-Ti-C system were observed through the Field Emission ...

Influence of the nucleation surface on the growth of epitaxial Al2O3 thermal CVD films deposited on cemented carbides

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
This work aims at understanding the nucleation and growth of alumina films grown on Ti(C,N)-based layers using an industrial-scale CVD system. Firstly, Al2O3 layer was deposited on Ti(C,N)-based layers without any nucleation treatment, pure α-Al2O3 is ...

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Improvement of Fermi-Level Pinning and Contact Resistivity in Ti/Ge Contact Using Carbon Implantation

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Effects of carbon implantation (C-imp) on the contact characteristics of Ti/Ge contact were investigated. The C-imp into Ti/Ge system was developed to reduce severe Fermi-level pinning (FLP) and to improve the thermal stability of Ti/Ge contact.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...
