Comparison of focusing of short pulses in the Debye approximation [PDF]
We have examined different types of pulses and features of their frequency spectra. Calculations have shown that a significant distinction between the pulses only takes place at a very short pulse duration (shorter than the oscillation period).

A minimal subwavelength focal spot for the energy flux
It is shown theoretically and numerically that circularly and linearly polarized incident beams produce at the tight focus identical circularly symmetric distributions of an on-axis energy flux.

High repetition rate green-pumped supercontinuum generation in calcium fluoride
We compare supercontinuum generation in $$\hbox {CaF}_2$$ CaF 2 crystal under tight and loose focusing of 150 fs, 515 nm second harmonic pulses from an amplified Yb:KGW laser at a repetition rate of 10 kHz.

Tight-focusing parabolic reflector schemes for petawatt lasers
A comparative study of three different tight-focusing schemes for high-power lasers is performed numerically. Using the Stratton-Chu formulation, the electromagnetic field in the vicinity of the focus is evaluated for a short-pulse laser beam incident upon an on-axis high numerical aperture parabola (HNAP), an off-axis parabola (OAP), and a ...

Influence of initial phase of polarization on tight focusing of vector beam
Generally, the influence of initial phase of polarization distribution of incident vector beams always is ignored in its tight focusing, because it just induce the whole rotation of polarization distribution.

Inverse Energy Flux in Tight Focusing of Vector Vortex Beam
In this paper, we focus on the study of the negative energy flow in the tight focusing of a radially polarized vortex beam. We know that, because of the coupling of the polarization state and the vortex charge, the on-axis energy flow in the focal region

Tailoring of Inverse Energy Flow Profiles with Vector Lissajous Beams
In recent years, structured laser beams for shaping inverse energy flow regions: regions with a direction of energy flow opposite to the propagation direction of a laser beam, have been actively studied.

We discuss interesting effects that occur when strongly focusing light with mth-order cylindrical–circular polarization. This type of hybrid polarization combines properties of the mth-order cylindrical polarization and circular polarization.

Toroidal Vortices of Energy in Tightly Focused Second-Order Cylindrical Vector Beams
In this paper, we simulate the focusing of a cylindrical vector beam (CVB) of second order, using the Richards–Wolf formula. Many papers have been published on focusing CVB, but they did not report on forming of the toroidal vortices of energy (TVE) near
