Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Tiling with Small Tiles

open access: yes, 2015
We look at sets of tiles that can tile any region of size greater than 1 on the square grid. This is not the typical tiling question, but relates closely to it and therefore can help solve other tiling problems -- we give an example of this. We also present a result to a more classic tiling question with dominoes and L-shape tiles.

Gorenstein tiled orders

open access: yesCarpathian Mathematical Publications, 2014
The aim of this article is to describe exponent matrices of Gorenstein tiled orders. The necessary and sufficient condition for possibility such to construct a Gorenstein tiled order which has given orders over some discrete valuation ring (the unique for the whole main diagonal) on the main diagonal and its permutation be a product of correspond ...

The Power of Duples (in Self-Assembly): It's Not So Hip To Be Square

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we define the Dupled abstract Tile Assembly Model (DaTAM), which is a slight extension to the abstract Tile Assembly Model (aTAM) that allows for not only the standard square tiles, but also "duple" tiles which are rectangles pre-formed by ...

Automated pebble mosaic stylization of images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Digital mosaics have usually used regular tiles, simulating the historical "tessellated" mosaics. In this paper, we present a method for synthesizing pebble mosaics, a historical mosaic style in which the tiles are rounded pebbles.

Functional Connectivity Linked to Cognitive Recovery After Minor Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Patients with minor stroke exhibit slowed processing speed and generalized alterations in functional connectivity involving frontoparietal cortex (FPC). The pattern of connectivity evolves over time. In this study, we examine the relationship of functional connectivity patterns to cognitive performance, to determine ...
