System refinement for content based satellite image retrieval

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, 2012
We are witnessing a large increase in satellite generated data especially in the form of images. Hence intelligent processing of the huge amount of data received by dozens of earth observing satellites, with specific satellite image oriented approaches ...

Dual Lineages of Langerhans Cells Cooperate to Restore the Immune Barrier after Skin Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After skin injury, the epidermal immune barrier is rebuilt by two sources of Langerhans cells. Resident Langerhans cells first move into the wound during re‐epithelialization, guided by CXCR2 signaling. Later, recruited monocytes become long‐lived Langerhans cells.

Ceramic tiling viewer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Observing and interacting with multi-thread programs can be difficult for the programmer. Simple input/output (I/O) can become a nightmare when multiple threads read and write simultaneously.

Bistable Networks Enable Complex Shape Changes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transition‐controlled metamaterials are networks of bistable mechanical memory that store local binary states and express them as global shape change. By decoupling low‐force programming from high‐force holding, a single lattice is reconfigured into distinct 2D profiles and 3D surfaces without continuous actuation, enabling reusable morphing materials ...

GraphRAG for engineering diagrams: ChatP&ID enables LLM interaction with P&IDs

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) are central to process engineering workflows, yet extracting information from them remains a tedious and time‐consuming task. This work introduces ChatP&ID, a framework enabling natural‐language interaction with smart P&IDs through Graph Retrieval‐Augmented Generation (GraphRAG), to our knowledge ...

Automatic Determination of Quasicrystalline Patterns from Microscopy Images

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This work introduces a user‐friendly machine learning tool to automatically extract and visualize quasicrystalline tiling patterns from atomically resolved microscopy images. It uses feature clustering, nearest‐neighbor analysis, and support vector machines. The method is broadly applicable to various quasicrystalline systems and is released as part of

Non-Commutative Geometrical Aspects and Topological Invariants of a Conformally Regular Pentagonal Tiling of the Plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The article ”A regular pentagonal tiling of the plane” by Philip L. Bowers and Kenneth Stephenson defines a conformal pentagonal tiling. This is a tiling of the plane with remarkable combinatorial and geometric properties. However, it doesn’t have finite ...

CrossMatAgent: AI‐Assisted Design of Manufacturable Metamaterial Patterns via Multi‐Agent Generative Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
CrossMatAgent is a multi‐agent framework that combines large language models and diffusion‐based generative AI to automate metamaterial design. By coordinating task‐specific agents—such as describer, architect, and builder—it transforms user‐provided image prompts into high‐fidelity, printable lattice patterns.
