The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Joint Time Frequency Analysis Techniques: A study of Transitional Dyamics in Sheet/Cloud Cavitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
An introduction to, and the use of, Joint Time Frequency Analysis techniques is given. Special emphasis is made on Time Frequency Distribution series. This method is demonstrated on selected experimental data.

Radio interferometric imaging of spatial structure that varies with time and frequency

open access: yes, 2012
The spatial-frequency coverage of a radio interferometer is increased by combining samples acquired at different times and observing frequencies. However, astrophysical sources often contain complicated spatial structure that varies within the time-range

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Frequency and Time Series Analysis of Surge Arrester in Power Distribution Systems [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Engineering and Intelligence Systems
Surge arresters are essential protective devices in power systems that redirect excess voltage and prevent damage to sensitive equipment. Extensive research has been conducted in electro-thermal modeling for surge arresters to better understand and ...

Multiplicative point process as a model of trading activity

open access: yes, 2004
Signals consisting of a sequence of pulses show that inherent origin of the 1/f noise is a Brownian fluctuation of the average interevent time between subsequent pulses of the pulse sequence.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Time-Frequency Feature Extraction of Newborn EEG Seizure Using SVD-Based Techniques

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2004
The nonstationary and multicomponent nature of newborn EEG seizures tends to increase the complexity of the seizure detection problem. In dealing with this type of problems, time-frequency-based techniques were shown to outperform classical techniques ...

Analysis of Power Quality Signals Using an Adaptive Time-Frequency Distribution

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Spikes frequently occur in power quality (PQ) disturbance signals due to various causes such as switching of the inductive loads and the energization of the capacitor bank.
