Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

The effect of vehicle sound power on auditory time-to-collision estimation

open access: yesActa Acustica
To safely cross a street while a vehicle is approaching, pedestrians must estimate how long it will take for the vehicle to reach their position.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Decision Trees as a Tool for Real-Time Travel Time Estimation on Highways

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a time travel estimation model based on a decision tree. Input parameter for travel time prediction is occupancy of detectors. The proposed model was tested on the most widely used arterial in Prague and also in the Czech Republic ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

ABSTRACT TIME-DELAY SELECTION FOR ROBUST ANGLE OF ARRIVAL ESTIMATION

open access: yes, 2008
The differences in the arrival times of a signal at spatially separated sensors can be used to estimate the angle of arrival of the signal. Due to noise or sensor malfunction, the time difference estimates may be erroneous and thus the angle of arrival ...
