Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Dynamic analyses of gear pairs incorporating the effect of time-varying lubrication damping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study presents a time-varying model to investigate dynamic responses of spur gear pairs. In particular, time-varying damping was directly used to account for the lubrication film of tooth pairs.

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Study on the dynamic load sharing characteristics of nutation face gear transmission

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
The nutation face gear transmission is a type of power splitting, and the effects of system parameters such as stiffness and transmission error on load distribution are not yet well understood. The Load Tooth Contact Analysis (LTCA) technique was used to

Time-varying Meshing Stiffness Calculation of Spur Gears with Asymmetric Spalling Defects

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
Gear systems are subjected to repeated loads during long-term operation, and factors such as insufficient lubricant to increase friction between gears, resulting in elevated temperatures and wear, are highly susceptible to tooth spalling. Tooth spalling is a common form of failure in gear failure.
