Asynchronous time difference of arrival (ATDOA) method

Pervasive and Mobile Computing, 2015
A new method for a location service in the asynchronous wireless sensor networks is outlined. This method, which is called asynchronous time difference of arrival (ATDOA), enables calculation of the position of a mobile node without knowledge of relative time differences (RTDs) between measuring sensors.

Passive radar localization by time difference of arrival

MILCOM 2002. Proceedings, 2003
A detailed analysis for the performance of TDOA based passive radar localization systems is provided. The system considered in the analyses consists of four sensors and associated receiver blocks, samplers, and signal processors. Arrival time for the radar pulses is obtained by adaptive thresholding. Cramer-Rao bounds of TOA and TDOA are obtained.

Indoor localization using ultrasonic time difference of arrival

2013 Proceedings of IEEE Southeastcon, 2013
Indoor environments like those found in mining and firefighting operations are extremely dynamic and Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH), requiring Incident Commanders and supervisors to constantly be aware of the location of their personnel. This paper presents a graduate student project to develop, in the span of one semester, a prototype

COMPARISON OF QUEUES WITH DIFFERENT DISCRETE-TIME ARRIVAL PROCESSES

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2001
Traveling times in a FIFO-stochastic event graph are compared in increasing convex ordering for different arrival processes. As a special case, a stochastic lower bound is obtained for the sojourn time in a tandem network of FIFO queues with a Markov arrival process.

Efficient trilateration algorithm using time differences of arrival

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2013
Abstract This work presents a novel hyperbolic algorithm to compute the absolute position of a mobile node (tag) in a Local Positioning System (LPS) based on the transmission of encoded signals from a set of beacons and computing the TDOA (Time Differences of Arrival) at the receiver.

Indoor Localization Using 802.11 Time Differences of Arrival

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2016
This paper proposes a novel time-based method for determining the position of an IEEE 802.11g transmitter using multiple mutually synchronized 802.11g receivers. By means of baseband signal processing, the proposed algorithm obtains a high-resolution estimate of the time of arrival (TOA) of the long training sequence symbol at each receiver.

Array Shape Observability From Time Differences of Arrival

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2011
In this paper, we study the observability conditions for the relative position of a set of passive sensors from the measured time differences of arrival (TDOA) of signals from a set of noncooperative sources lying in the same plane. The sources are broadband to measure the TDOA and far enough to consider each source is detected in the same line of ...

Indoor positioning using time difference of arrival between multipath components

International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation, 2013
Positioning is next to communication the most important field of applications for wireless radio transmissions. This paper considers indoor positioning using wireless signals. Especially in indoor scenarios, multipath reception degrades the accuracy of the positioning device as long as the receiver is based on standard methods.

System implementation of robust time difference of arrival estimation

2014 International Conference on Orange Technologies, 2014
We combine sound activity detection, sound enhancement, and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation system to an integrated system. We use sound activity detection for finding frames which are sound-dominated, then pass the signal to the subspace based sound enhancement for denoising. Finally, the denoised signal will be input to DOA detection system for

Estimation of time differences of arrival by pole decomposition

IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1983
Time differences of arrival (TDOA's) of emitter wave fronts to a spatially distributed array of sensors can be used to determine the source location. In this paper, we suggest a new method of TDOA estimation for multiple unknown autoregressive moving average (ARMA) sources and additive noise that may be correlated between the sensors.
