Estimation of pulse transit time using time delay estimation techniques
2011 4th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI), 2011The pulse wave propagation is the important electromechanical characteristics of biomedical signals. Conventionally the pulse propagation features are extracted by estimating the propagation time delay between two points called pulse transit time(PTT). The PTT estimation is based on the phase analysis of the cross power spectrum and bispectrum between ...

Time Estimation and Total Subjective Time
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1977Techniques for estimation of magnitude were used in a questionnaire given to 100 university students to test the hypothesis that the subjective duration of an interval of actual time decreases in proportion to total subjective time rather than total chronological age.

A parameter estimation approach to time delay estimation
ICASSP '79. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005Present techniques that estimate the difference in arrival time between two signals, corrupted by noise, received at two separate sensors, are based on the determination of the peak of the generalized cross-correlation between the signals. To achieve good resolution and stability in the estimates, the input sequences are first weighted. Invariably, the

Depression, attention, and time estimation
Brain and Cognition, 2003Depression is known to affect several cognitive functions, but little is known about the effect of this neuropsychological disorder on timing tasks. In the present experiment, 15 depressed and 20 non-depressed participants, classified on the basis of the Beck Depression Inventory, were tested on attentional and on temporal processing tasks.

Time Estimation and Hyperactivity, Replication
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1979Three groups of boys included 135 of normal IQ, showing normal activity; 6 were hyperactive and of normal IQ, and 6 showed normal activity but low IQ. Their ability to estimate a 30-sec. interval showed only the 6 normally active boys of low IQ had significantly different elapsed and estimated times.

Musical Mode and Estimation of Time
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2007This study assesses whether different musical modes can influence the subjective estimation of time. The three musical stimuli, each of 64.3 sec. duration, had the same harmonic structure, although each was constructed in a different mode: Ionian (major), Aeolian (minor), or Locrian (diminished) mode. Study participants were 108 undergraduate students (

Time Estimation by Psychiatric Patients
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1966The purpose of the present study was to determine whether psychiatric patients reporting intense and/or frequent feelings of time distortion, as well as other derealization (D.R.) and depersonalization (D.P.) symptoms, differ from matched controls in their ability to estimate 1 sec., using the modified method of limits described by Lhamon and Goldstone

Blind estimation of reverberation time
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003The reverberation time (RT) is an important parameter for characterizing the quality of an auditory space. Sounds in reverberant environments are subject to coloration. This affects speech intelligibility and sound localization. Many state-of-the-art audio signal processing algorithms, for example in hearing-aids and telephony, are expected to have the

Estimating time of death in dogs
The American Journal of Surgery, 1966Abstract A method for estimating the time of death in laboratory canines is described. In practice, it depends on accurately measuring at least two postmortem rectal temperatures over a period of several hours. Utilizing the percentage cooling rate, which compensates for inherent differences in heat loss due to weight, hair coat, state of nutrition ...
