Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Event History Analysis of Women's Marriage Timing
Contemporary Sociological Studies, 1993 本研究の目的は、現代女性の結婚行動を、主として社会階層的要因との関連において説明することである。三二四人の女性の個人データに基づき、結婚を早めたりあるいは遅らせたりする規定要因をイベントヒストリー分析を用いて明らかにする。分析の結果明らかになった知見は、第一に、現代において、女性の結婚の時機は、その出身家庭の社会的地位によっては規定されないこと、つまり結婚の時機を規定するのは、女性本人が形成した社会的地位それ自身である。第二に、学歴や職業といった女性の社会的地位が、結婚の機会や意思決定に影響し、高学歴女性や専門職など高い地位を達成した女性は結婚を遅らせるようになる。第三に、興味深い知見として、母親の就労は娘の結婚年齢を低下させる。

FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
