Real-time numerical peak detector

Signal Processing, 1986
Abstract A very simple and effective peak detector is proposed. The system gives in real-time the position and amplitude of a peak in a digital signal to a precision better than one pixel. An FIR filter is first used to average and differentiate the signal and a linear interpolator to increase the precision of the peak position.

Resonance detectors for time experiments

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1984
Abstract The time dependence of resonantly scattered radiation is studied. It is shown that the reported discrepancy between theory and experiment is due to nonresonant scattering of recoilless radiation which has not been taken into account in the earlier studies.

Plasma Time in Semiconductor Detectors

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1968
Several experimental results are given on plasma time in solid state detectors. They were obtained by various kinds of ionizing particles (?-particles, deuterons and protons) incident on particular solid state detectors. These results refer to electric fields between 250 and 2500 V/cm and to temperatures of 300°K, 185°K and 77°K.

A yoctosecond-precision timing detector

CLEO 2024
We experimentally presented a yoctosecond-precision timing detector based on electro-optic modulators. The minimum detection floor is 2.35×10-15 fs2/Hz and a large dynamic range of 127.78 dB is achieved with 1.5 mW input optical power.

Real-time harmonic pitch detector

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1976
A new pitch extraction algorithm has been developed which is designed to be robust against the degradations encountered in telephone speech. The algorithm determines the pitch from the spacing between harmonics in the first formant region, using an iterative technique whereby larger peaks are weighted more heavily.

Detectors: cameras and time machines

2023
Abstract This chapter explores the evolution of detectors that ranged between cameras and time machines. The cloud chamber was the first detector capable of revealing trails of charged particles. In the late 1940s, high-quality photographic emulsions became available which became the very earliest work on radioactivity and the discovery ...

Real-Time Fuel Vapor Detector

2002
Abstract : Report describes a resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) technique to measure vapor leakage from fuel tanks. The technique is a nonlinear optical process where two photons are simultaneously absorbed by an analyte resulting in the ejection of an electron to form a positively charged parent ion. Leak detector is comprised of three
