Effect of Tip Clearance on the Cavitation Flow in a Shunt Blade Inducer

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In order to study the effect of tip clearance on the internal cavitation stability of a shunt blade inducer, an external characteristics experiment of a centrifugal pump with a shunt blade inducer was carried out.

The effect of tip clearance size on pre-stall flow features of a transonic axial compressor by using throttle model

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
This paper aims at the numerical analysis of the influence of tip clearance size on the pre-stall flow features of a transonic high-speed compressor by applying the throttle model at the exit of the compressor computational domain.

Prediction of the Influence of Runner Tip Clearance on the Performance of Tubular Turbine

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Tubular turbine is a type of turbine with low-head. Due to the fact that the runner of a tubular turbine is of axial-flow type, there will be a certain width of blade tip between the blade and the chamber.

Leakage Flow Characteristics in Blade Tip of Shaft Tubular Pump

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
The shaft tubular pump device is widely used in various water diversion projects because of its ultra-low head and large flow characteristics. Due to the tip clearance between the blade and the shroud, it is easy to cause hydraulic mechanical performance

Active Flow Control for Passage Vortex Reduction in a Linear Turbine Cascade with Various Tip Clearance Sizes Using a Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuator

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
In an axial-flow turbine of a jet engine used for aircraft propulsion, the passage vortex (PV) and tip leakage vortex (TLV) generated inside the blade passage deteriorate the aerodynamic performance.

Time-of-flight tip-clearance measurements [PDF]

open access: yes35th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1999
In this paper a time-of-flight probe system incorporating the two integrated fiber optic probes which are tilted equally relative to the probe holder centerline, is applied for the first time to measure the tip clearance of an advanced fan prototype. Tip clearance is largely independent of the signal amplitude and it relies on timing measurement.

Numerical simulation of tip clearance impact on a pumpjet propulsor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2016
Numerical simulation based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method had been carried out with the commercial code ANSYS CFX. The structured grid and SST k–ω turbulence model had been adopted.
