Evaluation of Tire Wear Contribution to PM2.5 in Urban Environments
Vehicle-related particulate matter (PM) emissions may arise from both exhaust and non-exhaust mechanisms, such as brake wear, tire wear, and road pavement abrasion, each of which may be emitted directly and indirectly through resuspension of settled road

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Can Elastomers Combine Stiffness, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance?
This review studies how the molecular and macroscopic architecture of elastomers influence their mechanical properties including: stiffness, stretchability, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damping behavior. By linking the structure to performance, it proposes design principles for advanced elastomeric systems that combine mechanical properties ...

Mitigating tire wear particles and tire additive chemicals in stormwater with permeable pavements
6PPD-quinone (6PPDQ) is a recently discovered chemical that is acutely toxic to coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) and can form via environmental exposure of 6PPD, a compound found extensively in tire wear particles (TWPs). TWPs deposited on roads are transported to aquatic ecosystems via stormwater, contributing to microplastic pollution and organic ...

Coupled materials design enables a monolithic fiber that integrates complementary sensing regimes into a single wearable strand. By preserving informative signal features across subtle physiological deformation, large body motion, and mixed mechanical inputs, the dual‐gradient architecture generates synchronized, less redundant outputs that improve ...

Tire Wear Particle Emissions: A Review of Measurement Approaches and Impact on Reported Results
Tire-related emissions account for a significant proportion of traffic-related emissions. However, unlike brakes, the measurement of tire wear and airborne tire wear particle emissions is not yet standardized. On the contrary, there are numerous research
