Chemical and Biological Determinants of PEG‐Lipid Shedding From Therapeutic Nanoparticles
PEG‐lipids play a central role in governing lipid nanoparticle stability, targeting, and function. However, PEG‐lipids can “shed” from the nanoparticle surface in biological environments, with the extent and kinetics of shedding influenced by chemical and biological factors.

Handwritten Versus Typed Notes: The Impact of Note‐Taking Modes in Second Language Listening Tests
Abstract Technological advancements have influenced note‐taking practices in classrooms as well as their treatment in standardized language assessments. Many high‐stakes English listening tests (e.g., TOEFL iBT, IELTS) include varying note‐taking guidelines, often established without empirical support.

Waveguide-PAINT offers an open platform for large field-of-view super-resolution imaging
TIRF imaging is limited by the size and uniformity of the illumination. Here the authors present a waveguide solution to create a large area of uniform evanescent illumination suitable for single molecule imaging coupled with a customised sample holder ...

Clearer view for TIRF and oblique illumination microscopy
In Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, the sample is illuminated with an evanescent field that yields a thin optical section. However, its widefield detection has no rejection mechanism against out-of-focus blur from scattered light that can compromise TIRF images.

Interleaved imaging of Ca2+ puffs in TIRF and in wide-field modes.
(A) Fluorescence recordings from two puff sites, where Ca2+ release originated close to the plasma membrane (top) and deeper into the cell (bottom). Each record shows fluorescence monitored in TIRF mode (black) and WF mode (red).

The Origins of Ploem's Filter Cube: A Pandora's Box
Abstract Ploem's filter cube, central to modern epifluorescence microscopy, integrates three matched optical components: an excitation filter, an emission filter, and a dichroic mirror. Together, these elements enable the separation of excitation and emission light paths, producing high‐contrast fluorescence images.

Beyond single cells: Ten years of commercial lattice light‐sheet microscopy
Abstract Lattice light‐sheet microscopy (LLSM) enables gentle, rapid, volumetric fluorescence imaging of living biological systems. The technique employs Bessel beam interference to produce a light‐sheet which retains its thickness over a relatively large field‐of‐view compared to other light‐sheets.

Abstract Background Extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, are nanoparticles increasingly recognized as key regulators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological aspects. Despite rapid progress, inconsistencies in nomenclature, isolation, and characterization continue to restrict translational advancement.
