ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Clarifying Tissue Clearing [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2015
Biological specimens are intrinsically three dimensional; however, because of the obscuring effects of light scatter, imaging deep into a tissue volume is problematic. Although efforts to eliminate the scatter by "clearing" the tissue have been ongoing for over a century, there have been a large number of recent innovations.

A beginner’s guide to tissue clearing [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 2017
The last decade has seen a proliferation of tissue clearing methods that render large biological samples transparent and allow unprecedented three-dimensional views of enormous volumes of tissue. For a scientist wondering whether these methods will be useful to address their research problems, it can be bewildering to sort through the ever-increasing ...

Tissue Clearing Approaches in Atherosclerosis

2022
Recent advances in cardiovascular research have led to a more comprehensive understanding of molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis. It has become apparent that the disease involves three layers of the arterial wall: the intima, the media, and a connective tissue coat termed the adventitia.
