Tissue Distribution of Human α1-Microglobulin [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1979
Human alpha(1)-microglobulin was isolated from the urine of patients with tubular proteinuria, and its molecular weight was established by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis at 33,000 daltons. The carbohydrate content was 21.7%. Anti-alpha(1)-microglobulin serum was prepared and observed to react monospecifically in gel diffusion

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Adipose Tissue Distribution and Survival Among Women with Nonmetastatic Breast Cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
ObjectivePrevious studies of breast cancer survival have not considered specific depots of adipose tissue such as subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT).MethodsThis study assessed these relationships among 3,235 women with ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Pharmacokinetics, Tissue Distribution, Plasma Protein Binding Studies of 10-Dehydroxyl-12-Demethoxy-Conophylline, a Novel Anti-Tumor Candidate, in Rats

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
10-Dehydroxyl-12-demethoxy-conophylline is a natural anticancer candidate. The motivation of this study was to explore the pharmacokinetic profiles, tissue distribution, and plasma protein binding of 10-dehydroxyl-12-demethoxy-conophylline in Sprague ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
