Cell and tissue fixation, 1972?1982
The Histochemical Journal, 1985There have been changes in the practice of fixation over the past 10 years. There seem to be at least two different pressures working. On the one hand, there is increasing diversity in cell biological techniques which in turn demands more variable fixation procedures. Some of these have been outlined.

Effect of tricomplex fixation on lung tissue
Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1972The effect of tricomplex fixation on lungs fixed through vascular perfusion or through instillation of fixatives into the airways has been studied. To test the specificity of electron dense precipitates for phospholipids, some preparations were treated with tricomplex fixatives after lipid extraction with chloroform—methanol in a Soxhlet apparatus. The

Electron micrographs of mature plant cells fixed in neutral osmium tetroxide solutions frequently show disrupted cell membranes and an apparently dispersed cytoplasm. In the case of young non-vacuolated plant cells their fixation has been improved by the addition of various agents such as Locke’s medium and dextrin (1) or sucrose (2) to a buffered ...

The Fixation of Soluble Antigen by the Tissues
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1912On the injection of an antigen into a susceptible animal a reaction takes place resulting in the formation of antibodies specific for the antigen injected; therefore a study of the seat of fixation of antigen is of importance in the study of antibody formation.

[Fixation of tissue specimens].
Morphologiai es igazsagugyi orvosi szemle, 1981Authors studied the efficacy of various fixatives used in pathohistology. For general purposes and for impregnation techniques sodium-acetate-formalin, for the demonstration of cytoplasmic granula of endocrine cells and for staining of connective tissue elements Ort's solution and formalin with chrome-alum should be used.
