In vitro evaluation of the genotoxicity of a naturally occurring crosslinking agent (genipin) for biologic tissue fixation.

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 2000
The objective of the present study was to evaluate in vitro, using Chinese hamster ovary (CHO-K1) cells, the genotoxicity of genipin, a naturally occurring crosslinking agent.

Cell and tissue fixation, 1972?1982

The Histochemical Journal, 1985
There have been changes in the practice of fixation over the past 10 years. There seem to be at least two different pressures working. On the one hand, there is increasing diversity in cell biological techniques which in turn demands more variable fixation procedures. Some of these have been outlined.

Effects of Tissue Fixation on Light Scatter by PCO

Current Eye Research, 2012
To investigate whether light scattering of posterior capsule opacifications (PCOs) changes after fixation with paraformaldehyde (PFA).The intraocular lens with the lens capsule were extracted from pseudophakic donor eyes. Images of the extracted sample were acquired pre and post PFA-fixation using a dark field microscope.

Killing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in tissue by microwaves with simultaneous tissue fixation

Tubercle, 1990
Guinea-pig liver heavily infected with M. tuberculosis has been sterilised by exposure to microwaves in a standard commercially available domestic oven. Subsequent histology showed good tissue preservation and organisms of normal morphology were identified by Ziehl Neelsen staining.

Effect of tricomplex fixation on lung tissue

Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1972
The effect of tricomplex fixation on lungs fixed through vascular perfusion or through instillation of fixatives into the airways has been studied. To test the specificity of electron dense precipitates for phospholipids, some preparations were treated with tricomplex fixatives after lipid extraction with chloroform—methanol in a Soxhlet apparatus. The

A fine structural study of microwave fixation of tissues

Cell Biology International Reports, 1983
Microwave fixed liver and kidney tissues were examined by electron microscopy. It was found that the preservation of fine structure of these tissues by this method is equal to that processed by routine methods. No difficulty was encountered in sectioning microwave fixed tissue blocks. It is obvious that microwave fixation is a faster and more efficient

Tissue Processing: IV. Applied Fixation

1991
Although reactions with proteins are of overriding importance in tissue fixation (cf. Sect. 12.2), an appreciation of the reactions involving other macromolecules and lipids is also important. A selection of these are surveyed in Table 13.1.

Tissue Fixation Glutaraldehyde Fixation Revisited

Journal of Long-Term Effects of Medical Implants, 2001
Our ability to stabilize animal heart valves and to manufacture equivalent prostheses using collagenous tissues has proven to be of significant value to large number of patients over the last 30 years. Such tissue-derived bioprostheses are being gradually improved by modifications of design and slight changes in the processing of the tissues from which

Fixation of Kidney Tissue for Morphometric Study

1987
The classical biochemical approach to studying an organ has been to homogenize it. This technique has provided much of the present body of knowledge on intermediary metabolism, the nature of metabolites and the essential basic processes carried out in all cells.
