Rational Development of a Novel Emulgel Adjuvant for Single‐Shot Effective Vaccination: A Multivariate Analysis Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using multivariate analysis, a novel emulgel adjuvant is developed by combining key nanoemulsion formulation variables–hydrogel trapping, small globule size, and mannide monooleate surfactant–achieving 10× greater immunogenicity than MF59 in mice after a single shot.

Spin‐polarized Acidic Water Electrolysis with Antenna‐Reactor Plasmonic Electrocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chiral plasmonic antenna–reactor electrocatalyst, integrating Au nanoflowers as the antenna and iridium single atoms as the reactor, achieves spin‐polarized and light‐driven water electrolysis in acidic media. The catalyst exhibits high activity and durability, enabled by hot‐carrier transfer and the CISS effect, as supported by operando spectroscopy

Carbon Quantum Dots Assisted Virus Tracking: From Skin to Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel carbon quantum dots‐dissolvable microneedle, CQDs‐dMN system, enables painless delivery and real‐time tracking of HSV‐1. The HSV‐1 is labeled with fluorescent CQDs and delivered to the skin dermis, minimizing damage compared to traditional methods.

Calf pre-weaning traits and immunoglobulin response to bovine viral diarrhea virus vaccination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Calfhood vaccination for bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a relatively new concept, and protocols are evolving. Our objective was to determine effects of BVDV type I vaccination protocol, calf behavior (chute score, and chute exit velocity), and ...

Differing Transcriptomic Responses in High Titer versus Low Titer Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes after Oral Infection with Sindbis Virus

open access: yesViruses
Oral infection of mosquitoes by arboviruses often results in a large degree of variation in the amount of infectious virus between individual mosquitoes, even when the mosquitoes are from inbred laboratory strains.

Adaptive Elastin‐Like Hydrogel with Unidirectional and Controllable Anisotropic Actuation for Soft Robotics and Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fiber‐reinforced elastin‐like tubular scaffolds are engineered to achieve anisotropic and reversible actuation under external stimuli. By adjusting fiber's angle, actuation behavior is finely tuned, enabling distinct actuation responses, even within different regions of the same scaffold.

New methods for analyzing serological data with applications to influenza surveillance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Two important challenges to the use of serological assays for influenza surveillance include the substantial amount of experimental effort involved, and the inherent noisiness of serological data.

Self‐Assembly of a Tripodal Terpyridine Based Ligand with Luminescent Lanthanide Ions in Solution and Soft Material

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
The tripodal terpyridine‐1,3,5‐benzene tricarboxamide (BTA) ligand 1 is employed in the self‐assembly formation of novel luminescent materials using a range of lanthanide ions. In the polar protic solution, the results from the photophysical measurements are assessed using nonlinear regression analysis, while the functional material properties of the ...
