Vaccination with DNA plasmids expressing Gn coupled to C3d or alphavirus replicons expressing Gn protects mice against rift valley fever virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Rift Valley fever (RVF) is an arthropod-borne viral zoonosis. Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is an important biological threat with the potential to spread to new susceptible areas. In addition, it is a potential biowarfare agent. Methodology/

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Does serum gastric parietal cell antibody titer have influence on anemia and vitamin B12 deficiency in atrophic glossitis patients?

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2020
Background/Purpose: Our previous study found 284 gastric parietal cell antibody (GPCA)-positive atrophic glossitis (AG) patients (so-called GPCA+AG patients in this study) in a group of 1064 AG patients.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Clinical validation of an RSV neutralization assay and analysis of cross-sectional sera associated with 2021–2023 RSV outbreaks to investigate the immunity debt hypothesis

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute respiratory infections and hospitalization in infants and the elderly. Newly approved vaccines and the prophylactic antibody nirsevimab have heightened interest in RSV immunologic surveillance,

Predicting anti-RhD titers in donors: Boostering response and decline rates are personal. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
BACKGROUND:Anti-RhD immunised donors provide anti-RhD immunoglobulins used for the prevention of rhesus disease. These donors are periodically hyper-immunised (boostered) to retain a high titer level of anti-RhD. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS:We analysed anti-
