Single‐Cell RNA Seq in Sydenham Chorea Shows B Cell HLA‐DR/DQ Upregulation and Plasma Cell Proteasomal Activation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pathogenesis of Sydenham chorea remains unclear. We report a 10‐year‐old girl presenting with subacute chorea and mild carditis following Streptococcal throat infection. Single‐cell RNA sequencing on 30,794 peripheral immune cells from the patient and two sex‐matched controls revealed nine immune cell clusters.

Frequency of Seroconversion in Aquaporin‐4 Antibody Testing: Insights From Real‐World Data

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Clinicians often repeat aquaporin‐4‐immunoglobulin G (AQP4‐IgG) testing in case of possible seroconversion. Compared with older, less sensitive immunofluorescence assays (IFA), cell‐based assays (CBA) offer higher sensitivity. This study assessed the frequency of seroconversion in a retrospective Cleveland Clinic cohort (2006–2024) of 451 ...

Serum anti-Helicobacter pylori antibody titer and its association with gastric nodularity, atrophy, and age: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2018
AIM To clarify the role of serum anti-Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) antibody titers in gastric cancer. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, the effect of patients’ baseline characteristics and endoscopic findings on their serum antibody titers were ...

Analysis of Soluble Interleukin‐2 Receptor as a Prognostic Biomarker in NMOSD and MOGAD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Soluble interleukin‐2 receptor (sIL‐2R) is a biomarker for T cell activity. T cells are involved in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody‐associated disease (MOGAD) pathogenesis. However, sIL‐2R has so far not been evaluated in these conditions.

Counting rare Wolbachia endosymbionts using digital droplet PCR

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Wolbachia is the most widespread animal-associated intracellular microbe, living within the cells of over half of insect species. Since they can suppress pathogen replication and spread rapidly through insect populations, Wolbachia is at the vanguard of ...

Time Trends and Predictors of Gout Remission Over 6 Years

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to describe the trends in remission rates over 6 years of follow‐up among people with gout taking urate‐lowering therapy (ULT) and to identify variables that predict remission. Methods A post hoc analysis was conducted using data from the Cardiovascular Safety of Febuxostat or Allopurinol in Patients with Gout (CARES) trial ...

Effect of Host Genotype on Symbiont Titer in the Aphid—Buchnera Symbiosis

open access: yesInsects, 2011
Obligate nutritional symbioses require balance between the energetic needs of the host and the symbiont. The resident symbiont population size within a host may have major impacts on host fitness, as both host and symbiont consume and supply metabolites ...

TITER: predicting translation initiation sites by deep learning

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2017
Motivation Translation initiation is a key step in the regulation of gene expression. In addition to the annotated translation initiation sites (TISs), the translation process may also start at multiple alternative TISs (including both AUG and non-AUG ...

Treating lupus nephritis patients to lupus low disease activity reduces renal relapse and preserves long‐term kidney function

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Lupus low disease activity state (LLDAS) is a validated treatment target in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) but limited studies have explored the role of LLDAS in lupus nephritis (LN). This study aims to investigate the frequency and predictors of LLDAS attainment, and its benefit on LN relapse and renal function preservation in patients ...

Improvements in Health‐Related Quality of Life with Treat‐to‐Target Urate‐Lowering Therapy in Gout: A Post‐hoc Analysis of a Randomized Multicenter Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background While treat‐to‐target urate‐lowering therapy (ULT) is endorsed as best practice in gout management, limited data exist on its impact on health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). We assessed the impact of treat‐to‐target ULT on HRQoL among participants receiving protocolized gout care, identifying factors associated with HRQoL and HRQoL change.
