Tumor‐associated antigens: Tn antigen, sTn antigen, and T antigen

HLA, 2016
AbstractGlycosylation is one of the major posttranslational modifications of proteins. N‐glycosylation (Asn‐linked) and O‐glycosylation (Ser/Thr‐linked) are the two main forms. Abnormal O‐glycosylation is frequently observed on the surface of tumor cells, and is associated with an adverse outcome and poor prognosis in patients with cancer.

Expression of the Tn antigen in myelodysplasia, lymphoma, and leukemia

Transfusion, 1992
Expression of the normally cryptic blood group antigen Tn has occasionally been reported in hematologic disease, but the true frequency of this change is not known. A mouse monoclonal antibody (FBT3) and immunohistochemistry were used to examine expression of the Tn antigen.

Detection of Tn, sialosyl-Tn and T antigens in hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer

Virchows Archiv, 1996
The simple mucin-type carbohydrate antigens Tn, sialosyl-Tn, T and the 'cryptic' sialylated variant of the last represent the mucin core oligosaccharide structures that are produced in the initial steps of the mucin biosynthetic pathway. Utilizing monoclonal antibodies anti-Tn antigen (HB-Tn1), anti-sialosyl-Tn antigen (HB-STn1), anti-T antigen (HB-T1)

Detection of the Tn antigen in leukaemia using monoclonal anti‐Tn antibody and immunohistochemistry

British Journal of Haematology, 1987
SummaryExposure of the normally cryptic Tn antigen on haemopoietic cells leading to erythrocyte polyagglutination has been reported in a few cases of malignant or premalignant haemopoietic disorders and has been attributed to a selective deficiency of the enzyme 3–β‐D‐galactosyl‐transferase, A male patient presented with acute myelomonocytic leukaemia ...

Tn and Sialyl-Tn Antigens as Potential Prognostic Markers in Human Ovarian Carcinoma

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 2010
Objective: Carcinoma-associated Tn and sialyl-Tn antigens have been shown to aid in the prediction of tumor aggressiveness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of Tn and sialyl-Tn antigen expression in human ovarian carcinoma.

Distribution of sialosyl Tn and Tn antigens within normal and malignant colorectal epithelium

The Journal of Pathology, 1995
AbstractExpression of the core blood group structures sialosyl Tn (STn) and Tn is regarded as a colorectal cancer‐specific change reflecting truncated synthesis of the oligosaccharide component of goblet cell mucin. The distribution of STn and Tn in normal and malignant epithelium has been studied in detail by a combination of mucin‐, lectin‐, and ...

Human Tumor Antigens Tn and Sialyl Tn Arise from Mutations in Cosmc

Cancer Research, 2008
Abstract Neoplastic lesions typically express specific carbohydrate antigens on glycolipids, mucins, and other glycoproteins. Such antigens are often under epigenetic control and are subject to reversion and loss upon therapeutic selective pressure.

Synthesis of Sulfur-Containing Analogues of ΑGalNAc (Tn-Antigen) and ΒGal1,3ΑGalNAc (T-Antigen)

Monatshefte f?r Chemie / Chemical Monthly, 2002
A method for the preparation of thio-analogues of the T- and Tn-antigen was developed. Thus, starting from a known N-acetamido-glucoside derivative, the epidithio analogue of the Tn-antigen was accessible in a four-step reaction sequence. The corresponding epidithio analogue and the thioanhydro derivative of the T-antigen were synthesized starting from

TN, A General Carcinoma-Associated Antigen

1985
Abstract Tn antigen, the immediate precursor in the biosynthesis of T (Thomsen-Friedenreich) antigen does not occur in immunoreactive form in healthy tissues. However, we found it in about 90% of all primary carcinomas (CAs) and their metastases, as well as in the two T lymphomas studied. Thus, Tn is a CA-associated antigen.
