Deletion of NFIA Leads to Activation of S100A7 and Inflammatory Response‐Induced Apoptosis of Keratinocytes in Oral Lichen Planus Progression

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT S100 calcium‐binding protein A7 (S100A7) has been implicated in psoriasis and other inflammatory diseases. However, the function of S100A7 in oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic inflammatory disease, remains unclear. OLP was induced in mice by transplanting human OLP lesions into the backs of thymus‐free mice, and an in vitro cell model was ...

Identification and Biological Characterization of a Novel NRF2 Activator Molecule Released From the Membranes of Heat‐Treated Bifidobacterium breve NCC 2950

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
We have shed light on the mode of action behind the postbiotic form of Bifidobacterium breve NCC 2950. Heat treatment of this strain at 90°C leads to the production of 4‐oxo‐2‐pentenoic acid (OPA), which activates NRF2 host response, improving oxidative stress resistance and decreasing inflammation. ABSTRACT Postbiotics are defined as a “preparation of

Comparative LC‐MS Proteomics of Quinoa Grains: Evaluation of Bioactivity and Health Benefits by Combining In Silico Techniques With In Vitro Assays on Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Cells

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Identifying health‐promoting molecules such as bioactive peptides in complex food mixtures is a major challenge. In this study, we investigated proteins and protein hydrolysates from four quinoa varieties to evaluate their potential anticancer effects on colorectal adenocarcinoma cells.

Increased Nitrate Intake From Beetroot Juice Over 4 Weeks Changes the Composition of the Oral, But Not the Intestinal Microbiome

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This randomized, double‐blind, and placebo‐controlled crossover study investigated the effects of an increased intake of inorganic nitrate from beetroot juice over 4 weeks on the oral and intestinal microbial communities in older adults with treated high blood pressure.

Anti‐Inflammatory and Antibacterial Properties of Curcuma longa Extract Against Helicobacter pylori

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study explored the effects of Curcuma longa extract (CLE) against H. pylori infection. CLE contained 18 chemical compounds and completely inhibited growth of H. pylori Sydney strain 1 (SS1) in vitro. In infected mice with H. pylori SS1, oral administration of CLE successfully eradicated H.
