Proteolytic activity of plum pox virus—tobacco etch virus chimeric NIa proteases [PDF]
Plasmids encoding chimeric NIa‐type proteases made of sequences from the polyviruses plum pox virus (PPV) and tobacco etch virus (TEV) have been constructed. Their proteolytic activity on the large nuclear inclusion protein (NIa)‐capsid protein (CP) junction of each virus was assayed in Escherichia coli cells.

The high‐resolution structure of the T. aurantiacus xylanase TaXyn10 expressed in Escherichia coli shows that recombinant production combined with split‐intein‐based purification recovers the native fold of TaXyn10 and permits the formation of an N‐terminal pyroglutamate.

Potyvirus turnip mosaic virus induces neutral lipid accumulation and lipid droplet biogenesis in infected leaves for its own benefit. See also the Commentary on this article by May & Nagy, 252: 525–527. Summary Lipid droplets (LDs), which are dedicated to storing neutral lipids (NLs), are dynamic organelles involved in numerous other functions ...

Abstract INTRODUCTION Although the ABI3 S209F variant is a recognized genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease (AD), its pathogenic mechanism remains elusive. METHODS Using AD mouse models (amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 [APP/PS1] transgenic mice, 5×familial Alzheimer's disease (5×FAD) transgenic mice) with microglia‐specific knockdown of Abelson ...

Abstract The Fanconi anemia complementation group M protein (FANCM)–MHF complex is required for branched DNA recognition in the Fanconi anemia pathway, but structural analysis of the intact complex has been hindered by dissociation of FANCM from the FANCM‐associated histone fold (MHF) heterotetramer under crystallization conditions.

Introduction of recombinant antigens against Jembrana Disease Virus into plants [PDF]
Jembrana disease virus (JDV) is a bovine lentivirus that causes an acute severe disease syndrome in banteng cattle (Bos javanicus) in Indonesia. In order to develop a vaccine, JDV capsid (CA) protein together with transactivator of transcription (Tat ...

Facile approach for constructing TEV insertions to probe protein structure in vivo
The tobacco etch virus (TEV) protease has been used as a tool to examine protein structure in vivo. TEV cleavage sites (TEVcs) have been introduced via cloning into unique restriction sites or random transposon mutagenesis.
