Detection of two alphaviruses: Middelburg virus and Sindbis virus from enzootic amplification cycles in southwestern Uganda

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Our knowledge of alphavirus genetic diversity is mainly based on viruses isolated from anthropophilic mosquito species, humans, and livestock during outbreaks.

Phenoloxidase activity acts as a mosquito innate immune response against infection with Semliki Forest virus.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
Several components of the mosquito immune system including the RNA interference (RNAi), JAK/STAT, Toll and IMD pathways have previously been implicated in controlling arbovirus infections.

Passive Hemolysis-in-Gel with Togaviridae Arboviruses

open access: yesIntervirology, 1980
Radial hemolysis-in-agarose gel (HIG) with members of the genera Alphavirus and Flavivirus is described. The test can be reproduced with goose and sheep erythrocytes sensitized at the optimal pH for each virus. Human (O group), rooster, guinea pig, mouse and hamster erythrocytes were found to be unsuitable.

Virus chikungunya: Características virales y evolución genética

open access: yesSalud Uninorte, 2016
El virus chikungunya pertenece al género Alphavirus, de la familia de los Togaviridae. Es transmitido por artrópodos, en particular por la picada de especies de mosquitos, tales como Aedes aegypti y Aedes albopictus. El curso clínico característico de la
