Efficacy of toltrazuril against intestinal and hepatic coccidiosis in rabbits
Veterinary Parasitology, 1986The anticoccidial effect of toltrazuril (Bay Vi 9142) against Eimeria flavescens, E. intestinalis, E. magna, E. perforans and E. stiedai was tested in experimentally-infected rabbits. Continuous administration of 10-15 p.p.m. of the drug in the drinking water was highly effective in reducing oocyst output of all five species and in preventing clinical ...

Toltrazuril treatment of cystoisosporosis in dogs under experimental and field conditions
Parasitology Research, 2000Coccidia of the genus Cystoisospora cause mild to severe diarrhoea in dogs. The effects of toltrazuril treatment on cystoisosporosis were studied under experimental and field conditions. Twenty-four puppies were experimentally infected each with 4 x 10(4) oocysts of the Cystoisospora ohioensis group.

Efficacy of toltrazuril against artificial infections with Eimeria bovis in calves
Parasitology Research, 2003Eimeria bovis causes catarrhalic to haemorrhagic diarrhea, sometimes lethal, in calves. Two randomized blinded studies were conducted to examine the efficacy of toltrazuril (5 % oral suspension, single application) on experimental E. bovis infection. Sporulated oocysts of a pathogenic field strain were orally inoculated at a dose of 5×104 (study 1) or ...

Efficacy of toltrazuril and ponazuril against experimental Neospora caninum infection in mice
Parasitology Research, 2001Neosporosis is a disease affecting predominantly fetal development in cattle and dog hosts; and it may cause neuromuscular disfunction in infected newborn calves and pups. Predispositions--including, e.g. transient immunosuppression during pregnancy--may result in an increased dissemination of the parasite within the host or its offspring ...

A 42-day broiler floor pen study was conducted comparing the anticoccidial efficacy of toltrazuril (Baycox) as a stand alone treatment and as an additional treatment to in-feed anticoccidial programs. Toltrazuril was administered on days 18 and 19 in the drinking water at 7 mg/kg of body weight.

Effect of toltrazuril treatment in nursing piglets naturally infected with Isospora suis
Veterinary Parasitology, 2010Isospora suis is an important parasitic infection in intensive pig production worldwide, responsible for significant economic losses. In this study the efficacy of toltrazuril treatment against isosporosis was evaluated, under field conditions and throughout the nursing period, in reducing (i) the mean time to onset of diarrhoea and oocyst excretion ...
