Immunity to coccidiosis after treatment with toltrazuril
Parasitology Research, 2000Some characteristics of immune sera after toltrazuril treatment which may be involved in the enhancement of immunity are as follows. Firstly, toltrazuril acts against all intracellular parasite stages from 1 to 168 h post-infection: intracellular schizonts of generations I, II and III and also intracellular gamonts.

Treatment of intestinal coccidiosis was studied in domestic pet rabbits. In 45 rabbits aged four months or more, coccidial oocysts were observed in the faeces of 35 rabbits at a mean density of 806 opg (range 50 to 6800 opg).

Toltrazuril treatment of cystoisosporosis in dogs under experimental and field conditions
Parasitology Research, 2000Coccidia of the genus Cystoisospora cause mild to severe diarrhoea in dogs. The effects of toltrazuril treatment on cystoisosporosis were studied under experimental and field conditions. Twenty-four puppies were experimentally infected each with 4 x 10(4) oocysts of the Cystoisospora ohioensis group.

Toltrazuril does not show an effect against pigeon protozoal encephalitis
Parasitology Research, 2015The protozoan parasite Sarcocystis calchasi causes a severe neurologic disease in domestic pigeons (Columba livia f. dom.) named pigeon protozoal encephalitis. Recently, the parasite has also been reported in psittacines causing a virtually identical disease with fatal outcome. So far, an etiological treatment of S.

Efficacy of toltrazuril against artificial infections with Eimeria bovis in calves
Parasitology Research, 2003Eimeria bovis causes catarrhalic to haemorrhagic diarrhea, sometimes lethal, in calves. Two randomized blinded studies were conducted to examine the efficacy of toltrazuril (5 % oral suspension, single application) on experimental E. bovis infection. Sporulated oocysts of a pathogenic field strain were orally inoculated at a dose of 5×104 (study 1) or ...

Effects of toltrazuril on the growth of piglets in herds without clinical isosporosis
Veterinary Journal, 2007Isospora suis is a widely prevalent and economically important parasite. The antiprotozoal compound, toltrazuril, was given as a single treatment to piglets without clinical signs in 10 herds. The daily weight gain (DWG) and mortality between the treatment date and weaning was compared on each herd in 10 treated and 10 control litters.

Toltrazuril – primjena i farmakokinetika

Toltrazuril treatment for the control of broiler coccidiosis
2008The AA, reported the effect of a therapeutic medication with toltrazuril on control of coccidiosis and broiler performance in absence of coccidiostat medicated feed. A total of 250.000 broilers of three different poultry farms were treated with toltrazuril at 7 mg/BW daily in the drinking water at 19 and 20 days of age. Oocysts monitoring in the faeces

[Sulfonamide and toltrazuril therapy of experimental turkey coccidiosis].
DTW. Deutsche tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 1991Following experimental infection of caged turkeys with a mixed oocyst suspension of E. meleagrimitis, E. adenoeides and E. gallopavonis, the efficacy of sulfachlorpyrazine, sulfaquinoxaline + pyrimethamine, sulfaquinoxaline + diaveridine, and toltrazuril was investigated based on clinical and parasitological parameters.

Toltrazuril inhibits Toxoplasma gondii by potentially targeting pyrimidine metabolism
Pesticide Biochemistry and PhysiologyToxoplasma gondii is a significant zoonotic pathogen that infects nearly all warm-blooded animals. Available drugs for clinical treatment of toxoplasmosis are limited, creating an urgent need for development of new compounds. Toltrazuril (TOL) is a highly effective and broad-spectrum drug against parasites in Apicomplexa.
