Brachyury‐Activated Fucoidan Hydrogel Microspheres Rejuvenate Degenerative Intervertebral Discs Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes the creation of injectable Brachyury (Bry) mRNA‐loaded Fucoidan‐functionalized GelMA hydrogel microspheres (BLNP@GF). These microspheres efficiently suppress inflammation, enhance extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis in degenerated nucleus pulposus cells, and mitigate intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) in rat models.

Dual‐Modular Hydrogel Microparticles with Precision‐Modulation of Inflammatory Microenvironment Dictate Full‐Thickness Cartilage Regeneration for Osteoarthritis Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cartilage injury is a prominent pathological hallmark of osteoarthritis. In this study, we developed a two‐modular hydrogel microparticle system wherein HMP‐A effectively targets the damaged area, while HMP‐B forms an efficient connection with HMP‐A on the cartilage surface.

Screening of oral premalignant lesions in smokers using toluidine blue

open access: yesDental Journal, 2009
Background: A smoker is associated with the risk of developing oral premalignant lesions due to the cacinogenic contents in cigarette. Toluidine blue is a basic chromatic dye used in screening the presence of premalignant lesions due to its ability to ...

Periderm invasion contributes to epithelial formation in the teleost pharynx [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The gnathostome pharyngeal cavity functions in food transport and respiration. In amniotes the mouth and nares are the only channels allowing direct contact between internal and external epithelia.

Engineered Anti‐Senescence Trachea With Post‐Transplanted Regenerative Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioengineered trachea undergoes post‐transplanted senescence, which is found in this study for the first time. Hebe‐ET is designed with dual anti‐senescence strategies: fiber‐film scaffold in cartilage rings for close‐packed cell interaction, and quercetin‐loaded fibrous rings for immune modulation.

Histodynamics of Natural Killer Cells from a Healthy Donor Exposed to Exosomes from the Blood of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

open access: yesMakara Journal of Health Research
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the leading form of liver cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Exosomes in the HCC microenvironment can induce significant changes in natural killer (NK) cells during ...

Toluidine blue dye as a breast localization marker [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1989
We compared the efficacy of toluidine blue dye vs methylene blue as a visual marker for breast localizations in vitro and in vivo. In phase 1, the dyes were injected into 10 mastectomy specimens and allowed to diffuse for 24-48 hr. In phase 2, the breasts of four premastectomy patients were injected with the dyes and the dyes were allowed to diffuse ...

Structure, ontogeny and evolution of the patellar tendon in emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae) and other palaeognath birds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The patella (kneecap) exhibits multiple evolutionary origins in birds, mammals, and lizards, and is thought to increase the mechanical advantage of the knee extensor muscles.

Bioactive Silk Sericin/Bioceramic Nerve Guidance Conduit for Effective Repair of Long‐Gap Transected Peripheral Nerve Injury through Regulating Schwann Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies akermanite among six bioceramics and reveals its ability to enhance Schwann cell's proliferation, migration, and secretion. When combined with silk sericin, the composite conduit synergistically enhances Schwann cell‐mediated regenerative processes.
