Joint modeling of longitudinal and time‐to‐event data for dynamic disease risk prediction using proteomics

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Biomedical studies increasingly incorporate longitudinal data, enabling us to track individual disease processes over time at the molecular level, and to discover associations of the molecular profiles with the outcome of interest, such as the onset of a disease.

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 5, Page 1151-1298, May 2026.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

Association Between Physical Activity and Cryptogenic Ischemic Stroke in Young Adults: A Case–Control Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Data on the association between physical activity (PA) and cryptogenic ischaemic stroke (CIS) in young adults are scarce. We investigated the relationship between PA levels and early‐onset CIS, stratified by the presence of a high‐risk patent foramen ovale (PFO). Methods Patients aged 18–49 years with first‐ever CIS and sex‐ and age‐

Restoration of forestry‐drained oligotrophic peatlands can bring climate change mitigation within a few decades

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 4, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Climate mitigation by peatland restoration is suggested, but data from restored forestry‐drained peatlands (FDP) is sparse. Studies using surrogate emission factors from pristine peatlands have indicated a long‐lasting warming effect of restoration of nutrient‐poor FDPs, while restoration‐specific studies are missing.
