Automatic tool path generation for finish machining [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
A system for automatic tool path generation was developed at Sandia National Laboratories for finish machining operations. The system consists of a commercially available 5-axis milling machine controlled by Sandia developed software. This system was used to remove overspray on cast turbine blades.

The Surface Roughness Prediction Model of Microlens Array in Slow Tool Servo Cutting

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2020
A prediction model for the surface topography generation in the ultra precision machining of microlens arrays is established . The tool path generation is analyzed based on the cutting parameters, tool geometry parameters and geometry of microlens array.

Contribution to the Generation of Tool Paths in a Cam System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The flank milling of complex forms is a very effective process from the point of view of productivity and surface quality. Many works deal with research on the optimal positioning of the tool which is considered as a rigid body in order to minimize tool path errors.

Multi-bead Overlapping Models for Tool Path Generation in Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing Processes

open access: yes, 2020
Wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has received substantial attention in recent years due to the very high build rates. When bulky structures are generated using standard layer-by-layer tool paths, the build rate in the outer contour of the part may ...

Automated Unsupervised 3D Tool-Path Generation Using Stacked 2D Image Processing Technique

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2019
Tool-path, feed-rate, and depth-of-cut of a tool determine the machining time, tool wear, power consumption, and realization costs. Before the commissioning and production, a preliminary phase of failure-mode identification and effect analysis allows for

Inverse Kinematics-Based Trajectory Generation For Robot-Assisted 3D Surface Machining [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
Machining and tracking of 3D surfaces using industrial robot is not a newmethod, but the new in this paper is the use of simple trigonometric relations inthe calculations of robots joints variables by using the inverse kinematicsapproach rather than the ...
