Tool-Path Problem in Direct Energy Deposition Metal-Additive Manufacturing: Sequence Strategy Generation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The tool-path problem has been extensively studied in manufacturing technologies, as it has a considerable impact on production time. Additive manufacturing is one of these technologies; it takes time to fabricate parts, so the selection of optimal tool ...

Generalization of mathematical representation for tool path based on boundary representation (BREPS) data structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A generic representation of linear and curvilinear entities with embedded motion attributes is possible via the integration of a Hermite curve and dynamic of motion.

The effects of machining process variables and tooling characterisation on the surface generation: modelling, simulation and application promise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The paper presents a novel approach for modelling and simulation of the surface generation in the machining process. The approach, by integrating dynamic cutting force model, regenerative vibration model, machining system response model and tool profile ...

High Health Care Utilization Preceding Diagnosis With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize health care utilization in the year preceding diagnosis. Methods We identified 10,021 patients with an incident diagnosis

A Finite Element Model for Describing the Effect of Muscle Shortening on Surface EMG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A finite-element model for the generation of single fiber action potentials in a muscle undergoing various degrees of fiber shortening is developed. The muscle is assumed fusiform with muscle fibers following a curvilinear path described by a Gaussian ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Optimal Joint Path Planning of a New Virtual-Linkage-Based Redundant Finishing Stage for Additive-Finishing Integrated Manufacturing

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
This paper describes the optimal path planning of a redundant finishing mechanism developed for joint space-based additive-finishing integrated manufacturing (AFM). The research motivation results from an inevitable one-sided layout of a finishing stage (

A Simple and Scalable Static Analysis for Bound Analysis and Amortized Complexity Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present the first scalable bound analysis that achieves amortized complexity analysis. In contrast to earlier work, our bound analysis is not based on general purpose reasoners such as abstract interpreters, software model checkers or computer algebra

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
