Top quark physics at hadron colliders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The top quark is the heaviest fundamental particle known so far. As such, it is expected to play a crucial role in the study of the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism and the generation of mass, as well as to serve as an ideal window into new ...

Magnetospectroscopy of shallow donors in two dimensions in the presence of fluctuations of the electrostatic potential

open access: yesNanophotonics
Spectroscopy of shallow donors is a tool to test theoretical models and to reveal properties of semiconductors. In this work we consider intra-shallow impurity transitions by studying a CdTe/(Cd, Mg)Te structure grown by a molecular beam epitaxy in which

Measurement of the polarisation of single top quarks and antiquarks produced in the t-channel at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV and bounds on the tWb dipole operator from the ATLAS experiment

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
A simultaneous measurement of the three components of the top-quark and top-antiquark polarisation vectors in t-channel single-top-quark production is presented.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Search for direct top-squark pair production in final states with two leptons in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A search is presented for direct top-squark pair production in final states with two leptons (electrons or muons) of opposite charge using 20.3 fb−1 of pp collision data at s√ = 8 TeV, collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Top Quark Physics at Hadron Colliders

open access: yes, 2006
More than ten years after its discovery, still relatively little is known about the top quark, the heaviest known elementary particle. The present extensive survey summarizes and reviews top-quark physics based on the precision measurements at the ...

Electroweak and Top physics at ATLAS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The observation of electroweak boson ($W,Z$) and top quark pair ($tar{t}$) production is one of the key milestones for the early LHC physics programme.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
