Calculation method of riser top tension in deep water drilling

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2015
Through mechanical analysis, a calculation method which meets the requirements of both the riser stability and the bottom over-pull margin was deduced. It was verified by an example of ultra deepwater well in South China Sea, and compared with two other common methods.

Frequency Response Function and Design Parameter Effects of Hydro-Pneumatic Tensioner for Top-Tensioned Riser [PDF]

open access: yesProcesses, 2021
The top-tensioned riser is an important equipment in offshore oil and gas development. The hydro-pneumatic tensioner is an essential device to ensure the safety of the top-tensioned riser. To investigate the dynamic performance of the marine platform hydro-pneumatic tensioner, this paper proposed a first-order Taylor approximation method and created ...

Study on key performance parameters of hydro-pneumatic tensioner for top tensioned riser [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research, 2019
Abstract In this paper an improved mathematical model of a hydro-pneumatic tensioner (HPT) system for top tensioned riser (TTR) is derived by consideration of friction, mass of piston and piston rod, tension loss in hydraulic oil piping, and compressibility of hydraulic oil. The vertical motion of the riser string is also considered.

Estimation of top tensions in mooring lines by sensor fusion

open access: yesMarine Structures, 2022
The paper describes a sensor fusion method that provides reliable, uninterrupted and bias-free estimates of the top tension in a mooring line. The method exploits the geometric nonlinearity of mooring systems installed in shallow to moderate water depths: a change of line length (due to winching) affects the local dynamic stiffness of the mooring line.

Numerical and Experimental Study on the Dynamics of the Tendon/Top Tension Riser System of a Tension-Leg Platform

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Application, 2022
AbstractIn this study, the dynamics of the tendon/top tension riser (TTR) system of a tension-leg platform (TLP) are investigated through an experiment and by using absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF). First, the model test of the TLP system is conducted in the water tank of Harbin Engineering University to examine the motion response of the ...

Numerical simulation of Vortex-induced Vibration of A Top-tensioned Riser

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract The objective purpose of the paper is explore the prediction the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a top-tensioned riser. The riser model is established based on vector form intrinsic finite element (VFIFE) method. The riser is discretized into a set of mass points whose motion follow the Newton’s second law and the central ...

Rational Use of Herbal Products in Pediatric Patients Treated With Anticancer Drugs in the European Union

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The use of herbal medical preparation (HMP) is rising among pediatric oncology patients, often to manage treatment‐related symptoms. Their effectiveness remains uncertain, and the risk of herb–drug interactions is underestimated.

Early Impact of Childhood Opportunity on Neurocognitive Outcomes in Sickle Cell Disease

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neurocognitive impairment is a well‐recognized complication of sickle cell disease (SCD) that begins early in childhood and persists across development. While cerebrovascular injury contributes substantially to risk, neurocognitive deficits are also observed in children without overt or silent cerebral infarctions, suggesting ...

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Tracking Health Related Quality of Life From Diagnosis to Follow‐Up Among Australian Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is one of the most treatable forms of paediatric cancer; however, there is a substantial burden of treatment‐related toxicities (TRTs). In addition, the long‐term changes in children's health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) due to toxic treatments are not well understood.
